The idea for this blog came from my darling husband. I’ve kept journals (and random bits of paper with scribbling all over them) for years on my gardening projects, but never had a great way to organize them.
“Well, why don’t you write a blog?” he asked one day. Thoughtfully, I responded “because no one would read it”, and then I realized it didn’t matter if no one read it. I could write it for myself, and it could be a digital document of my mini homesteading adventures. And, because no one would read it, I wouldn’t be hindered by the self consciousness I feel in normal online interactions. What if people think I’m stupid for my ideas? Or they–gasp–don’t think I’m funny? Oh well.
I am not an expert in anything homesteading related. I have chickens, and I have a garden. I can’t make soap (yet), and I’m not a very good seamstress. I’m not a good cook. My handwriting is near illegible and I procrastinate just about every task I envision completing. (The conversation about the blog? That was three years ago. The husband wasn’t even a fiance yet)
But, I want to try, and learn, and fail, and try again. I want to build my life into something I really love, because that’s what it’s all really about. I hope that if someone stumbles upon this blog that maybe they can get a laugh. Maybe they see a cute picture, or have tried something I want to try and can chuckle when they see me doing something all wrong (send me an email with tips, please!)
